The speed read
An opportunity for a highly conceptual Intermediate Designer to join a brand and storytelling agency focused on retail, transport, urban regeneration and experiential commercial spaces. This is a hands on, ideas led role with exposure to everything from large-scale masterplanning to detailed F&B and retail environments.
The role
You’ll work across large and small-scale projects; one day contributing to an airport masterplan or passenger journey strategy, the next developing a one-off food & beverage or retail environment.
This studio’s work sits at the intersection of strategy, place, experience and design. Projects are highly strategic, often beginning with visioning, insight and narrative development working with landowners, transport authorities, airports and entrepreneurial clients.
Aviation is a major focus (airports, passenger journeys, food operators), alongside transport hubs, urban regeneration and selected high street and workplace concepts.
You’ll be involved from the earliest stages of thinking through to spatial translation, helping turn insight, research and strategy into three-dimensional environments.
They are a friendly, supportive studio with long serving team members. They pride themselves on being highly collaborative and discussion-led. They value designers who like to question, debate and provocate. The work is hugely varied so no two days are ever the same.
You’ll have
- Around 3–5 years’ relevant experience (Senior Designers also considered)
- Experience designing and reading plans of spatial environments
- A strong conceptual and strategic mindset
- Genuine interest in trends, cultural change and how this impacts spaces and experiences
- An understanding of commerciality and how design drives business outcomes
- Experience or interest in aviation, transport, retail, F&B, workplace or urban regeneration is a plus
- Strong hand sketching skills (highly valued)
- A portfolio that clearly shows thinking, insight and process and an understanding of spatial and/or interior design with examples of 3D visualisations
- Experience in Adobe CC & SketchUp ideally.
- Rhino, Enscape, AutoCAD and Revit are a bonus!
You’ll be:
- Producing presentations and visual storytelling for internal and for client use
- Encouraged to present to clients (if you feel comfortable doing this)
- Hand sketching and ideating as part of the design process
- Conducting site visits – on occasion
- Curious, informed and interested in what’s changing in the world
- Comfortable working across different scales and project types
